a shifting of papers
reveals coffee stains
if we saw ourselves trudging
i think we’d want to know
and some wet weather rolled through
as i stare at slick pavement
and umbrellas fat
we built a small little universe of shared things
but ultimately we were very different people
Leaving the city after being a hermit for a while produces the anxiety of having to prepare now to THINK BIG
to think outside the city
Having been forgiven I returned to New York City with no agenda. Having never asked for, expected or been given forgiveness I was ill prepared for how it would feel.
I never considered forgiveness yet was nevertheless surprised at how easy it came or how natural it felt.
How delicate it was and how long it would need to take
To harden
To shell
forest segments up below never show
i am left with eyes on walls
my anxious fingers unprepare
they draw no map
and find no air when the power
goes out for the night
All borders and lines and walls. Graffiti or sledgehammer? That is the question.
