How does one make a video for a poem? With the release of our first Sunshine and Wind trade paperback, WHAT A FUTURE, looming, we were eager to find out.
The whole inspiration for this book came out of our author’s experience going for antibody testing in Sunnyside, so we had him re-create this experience. Add in a little music by NYC ambient musician La Sudar and the steady hand of award winning filmmaker Pam Wess guiding the edit, and you have what we consider to be a fairly accurate audio-visual portrait of the “title track” to J.E. O’Leary’s What a Future. (available December 7 2020 everywhere! preorder at the store!)
hinged and stretching
currently useless and
on the closet shelf
but a silent reminder to
to keep adding to the list
i could not make out the words or
that should have been a clue.
a lyric introducing the
highway love unlimited collective
said back in the day it was just
the 18 of us, sounded to me like
wishful head counting.
i was full of sweat in my
ex girlfriend’s sleeveless gray
static tee shirt
it love unlimited but
i’m not sure if i believe
three segments: deli at the mall
the long walk through a well lit
then at the bookstore where it became clear
and some wet weather rolled through
as i stare at slick pavement
and umbrellas fat
me, i don’t see much
i’m focused on the feeling
i close my eyes
and wander the cooler airs
like everything else that has
they lift bodies
